A common misconception is the difference between Smart Wiring and Home Automation. While they are both smart home technologies, smartwiring or structured cabling is a platform of wiring on which you can run various services such as phone, tv, data & entertainment. Home Automation is a control system or systems that act autonomously on behalf of the occupants to complete mundane or repetitious tasks, anticipate the occupants needs or simplify control of complicated systems.
