| Electric Mortice Lock |
Electromechanical locks come in two
main styles, electric strikes and drop bolts.
Electric Strikes work
with the existing door hardware and mean you can always get out by
turning the snib on the inside.
Drop Bolts are good
where it is desired not to see any door hardware, the lock is also
better protected from tapmering - especially where both sides of
the door may be public.
Both of these locks can be specified "power to open" or "power
to lock" also known as "fail secure" or "fail safe" respectively.
This means you can decide if the door should stay locked or
unlocked in a power cut and if any battery backup has failed or run
down.
Green Tip: A "power to open"
electric strike or drop bolt uses the least energy of all these
locks.
